commit to your practice
Wherever you may be in your relationship with your practice, there is an opening to explore what it means to you and how you want to define your commitment to it. What is your contract with your art form? Is it malleable? Does it have a strong foundation? How do you find purpose and make meaning?
Maybe you want your art to be your livelihood. Maybe you want to be seen and celebrated in your creative community and beyond. Maybe you want to make art to help you understand your own story or to help others try to make sense of the world. Maybe you just want to make something heartbreaking and beautiful. Maybe it is all of these motivations and more.
-
engage with your practice
You may just be starting out in creative practice, or you may be coming off of a long hiatus. You may be in the thick of it and needing to negotiate your terms of engagement with your practice, or wanting to prioritize and center your practice in the midst of all your other responsibilities and desires. You may be a professional in a creative field, or a student of a creative discipline just starting to scratch the surface. I will meet you wherever you are. Naming your vision and engaging in organizing strategies to bring your inspirations into being go hand in hand.
-
share your practice
As both a former cheerleader (true story) and a former professor of art and design, it feels quite natural to me to enthusiastically encourage others to share their vision and creative work with the world. I will help you to develop a plan (that will of course change and grow as you do) to make meaningful connections in whatever fields, communities, venues, and platforms hum with energy for you.
creative coaching: what to expect
I offer an individualized approach based on your needs and desires, which will include a support plan (a living document) for a sustainable and fulfilling practice. We will explore topics related to your interests, road blocks, curiosities, and vision. This exploration unfolds and blooms through a dynamic process of conversation, research, reflection, and by design. Your design. I just help you find it.
It can be helpful to start with 4-6 coaching sessions meeting once a week or every other week. That might be all you need to find the clarity you are searching for in your artist identity and creative practice. I am happy to offer just one session as needed, too, if that is what works best for you.
counseling and coaching
A word about the differentiation between counseling and coaching. In my counseling practice I support clients who may be experiencing challenging emotions or mental health symptoms, most often related to anxiety, depression, and trauma. In my coaching role I support clients who want guidance and a witness to exploration specific to creative vision and goals. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about these services.
